Centennial Campaign is music to students' ears
As members of the wind ensemble known as Trio Destino, Rachael Young, Hilary Abigana and Amy Chung sought an education that would maximize their potential — for the right price. That pursuit brought the group to The Shepherd School of Music's graduate program. Together, the trio cultivated their talent at Rice University thanks largely to scholarship support.
From Bolivia to Rice, an education takes root
Growing up in Bolivia, Noe Alvarez was expected to take over his family’s farm. Instead, with the blessing of his parents, Alvarez decided to pursue an education in the United States. Decades after beginning that journey, Alvarez has earned a doctorate from Rice University — and the right to farm on a completely different scale.
